As an interventional gastroenterologist at City of Hope® Cancer Center Chicago, Mani Mahdavian, M.D., works with patients’ multidisciplinary cancer care teams to provide leading-edge care for cancers affecting the pancreas, stomach, bile duct, colon, rectum and esophagus. Dedicated to offering access to innovative and minimally invasive procedures, Dr. Mahdavian is an expert in approaches including endoscopic resection, endoscopic ultrasound and radiofrequency ablation.
Dr. Mahdavian completed his medical education at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in Tehran, Iran, before moving to the United States to complete a research fellowship in the wound healing and plastic surgery labs at the University of California, San Francisco. He went on to complete an internal medicine residency at Edgewater Medical Center in Chicago and a fellowship in gastroenterology at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois. His training in endoscopic ultrasound techniques took place at both the University of Illinois and the University of Montreal in Canada.
A physician-scholar and a respected teacher, Dr. Mahdavian has published multiple articles in the field of cancer prevention and gastroenterology and served as a faculty member at Lutheran General Hospital and Rosalind Franklin University’s Chicago Medical School. A fluent speaker of English, German and Farsi, he is a member of the American Medical Association, the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
