Neil Dunavin, M.D., M.S., is an associate clinical professor of hematology and hematopoietic cell transplantation at City of Hope® Cancer Center Chicago, where he works closely with patients diagnosed with hematologic malignancies such as leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma, as well as blood disorders like myelodysplastic syndromes and aplastic anemia. An expert in leading-edge treatment options for a wide range of blood cancers, including stem cell transplantation and immunotherapies, Dr. Dunavin is also committed to providing compassionate, equitable care for every patient.
Dr. Dunavin earned his medical degree at the University of Kansas School of Medicine before pursuing an internship and residency in internal medicine at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, where he was named chief resident. He then completed a hematology fellowship at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Research Center in Bethesda, Maryland, serving as chief fellow. He also holds a master’s degree in clinical research from Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, North Carolina.
A physician-scholar with multiple publications to his name, Dr. Dunavin has presented on his work at conferences and events around the United States and received awards for his research and teaching. He is a member of the American Society of Blood and Marrow Transplantation and the American Society of Hematology and has participated in medical mission outreach in countries including Kenya and Tanzania.
