Specializing in the challenging field of palliative medicine, Samina Qamar, M.D., is passionate about improving her patients' physical and emotional well-being. She has studied a wide variety of interventions and their effects, ranging from chemotherapy to music to the power of positive thinking.
Educated in Pakistan, Dr. Qamar received her medical degree from Fatima Jinnah Medical College for Women.
Her commitment to her patients was clear from the start: During her internship and residency at The Brooklyn Hospital Center and Cornell University & Weill Medical College, Dr. Qamar was cited for Excellent Patient Care. Dr. Qamar completed a fellowship in hospice and palliative care at University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
Dr. Qamar also spent two years researching renal and bladder cancer at University of California San Francisco-Fresno. She was drawn to City of Hope (“a supportive and welcoming place to work”) for its research opportunities and its reputation for highest quality patient care.
