William D. Boswell Jr., M.D.
William D. Boswell, M.D., is chair of the Department of Diagnostic Radiology at City of Hope. Dr. Boswell graduated from Thomas Jefferson University, Jefferson Medical College and then completed an internship and residency in diagnostic radiology at the Los Angeles County+USC Medical Center, where he also completed a fellowship in vascular radiology.
At Keck School of Medicine at USC, he was professor of clinical radiology and urology, as well as associate chairman of the Department of Radiology, and chief of diagnostic radiology at USC Norris Cancer Hospital, a position he has held from the time the hospital first opened in 1982. He was chief of staff at USC Norris from 1998 through 2002, and served on the Medical Executive Committee from 1983 to 2011.
He was an active member of the Institutional Review Board at USC from 1979 through 1996. Dr. Boswell has also been active in the area of health care arena within the county of Los Angeles, serving as a member of the board of directors of the Association of Physicians of Los Angeles County Hospitals, and as chair of the radiology standards committee of the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services.
Dr. Boswell's research interests include urologic cancers, hematologic malignancies, as well as the imaging of oncologic patients in general. He is also an authority in the area of telemedicine and telehealth. He has published 90 papers in the peer-reviewed literature, as well as numerous publications in the non-peer reviewed literature and exhibits, delivered nationally and internationally.; He has served as principal investigator or co-principal investigator on 16 different grants, funded by the National Cancer Institute, the National Library of Medicine, the USDA and other foundations.
