Vijay Trisal, M.D., is the Dr. Norman & Melinda Payson Professor in Medicine at City of Hope®. He serves as the system chief clinical officer, responsible for setting the vision and direction for systemwide quality, patient safety, developing guidelines for clinical pathways and protocols, creating a physician leadership development model, and partnering closely with each market’s chief clinical officer.
Dr. Trisal is a surgical oncologist with a focus on melanoma and sarcoma and has been at the center of immunotherapy and technological advancements toward the cure of these rare and life-threatening diseases at City of Hope. He also has deep expertise in the treatment of breast cancer and is a passionate spokesperson for individualized care, incorporating consideration for each person's specific needs and expectations into treatment decisions.
Dr. Trisal was closely involved with conceptualizing the expansion of City of Hope and creating a community where the patient can be treated at the right time by the right physician at the right location. He also led the successful implementation of 'ConnectHope' — a transformational implementation of a complete health record system across the enterprise.
Dr. Trisal was born and educated in Kashmir, India, and completed his residency at Providence Hospital and Medical Centers in Southfield, Michigan.
