Jada Hansberry, MS, MPAS, PA-C, joined City of Hope® in 2024 as a Physician Assistant in the Department of Surgical Oncology. She sees patients at City of Hope Cancer Center Chicago and City of Hope’s North Shore location. She is dedicated to creating a compassionate, personalized approach to cancer care and supports patients and their clinical care teams during the diagnosis and treatment stages of their cancer journeys.
Hansberry has more than a decade of experience as a physician assistant at other Illinois institutions. After graduating from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, with a Bachelor of Science degree in pre-medicine and biology, she earned her Master of Science degree through Indiana University-Purdue University’s pre-professional non-thesis biology program before pursuing more post-graduate education at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. There, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in physician assistant studies and a Master of Physician Assistant Studies. While studying for her master’s degree, Hansberry served as a research technician at Indiana University, where she conducted studies in hematology/oncology and ophthalmology.
Hansberry works closely with the oncology and surgical teams at City of Hope Chicago as a key part of the cancer care team. She sees new and established patients and performs a variety of procedures for patients undergoing cancer diagnosis and treatment. These include biopsies, incision and drainage, skin lesion excisions, continuous glucose monitoring and lipoma excisions.
In addition to providing general cancer care, Hansberry leads the High-Risk Breast Cancer program in our North Shore location. With over a decade of experience in high-risk breast cancer prevention and treatment, she helps women understand their individualized risks of developing breast cancer, providing personalized screening and prevention recommendations and coordinating care with other clinical specialists depending on each individual’s needs.
Hansberry holds certifications from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, the Illinois Physician Assistant Board, the American Society of Breast Surgeons and the American Academy of Physician Associates.
