Providing Clinical Excellence in Cancer Treatment to Patients in the Midwest

THE EXPERTISE YOU DESERVE

COH-Cancer-Treatment-Excellence-DTM

The cancer care experts at City of Hope’s Chicagoland locations have extensive experience diagnosing and treating both early-stage and advanced-stage cancers, as well as complex and rare cancers. Our oncologists use a wide variety of standard-of-care and innovative treatment tools and technologies, including precision medicine breakthroughs in immunotherapy and targeted therapy drugs, to attack your specific cancer type, while also offering qualified patients access to clinical research on potential new treatment approaches. A second opinion may point to a different cancer type, and a review of your genetic profile through advanced genomic testing may uncover a treatment option not previously considered, or it may help to confirm your current diagnosis and treatment plan.

Our Experts Treat a Wide Range of Cancer Types

It takes a team of cancer experts working alongside you to fight a complex disease like cancer. Our team of cancer experts collaborates and works together, allowing you to explore your treatment options sooner. City of Hope’s Illinois care team includes board-certified specialists with advanced training and expertise in specific cancers — from breast, lung, prostate and colorectal cancers to leukemia and lymphoma — as well as the many treatment options available to fight them.

Early Access to New Cancer Therapies

At City of Hope —led by our flagship hospital in Duarte, California, a recognized leader in cancer research, treatment and prevention — we’re committed to helping qualified cancer patients get access to new and innovative treatment options. The research team at City of Hope Chicago identifies and studies new and emerging treatment options that are supported by scientific and clinical research. City of Hope’s clinical research programs may offer patients in the Midwest early access to treatment options that may otherwise be unavailable to them.

Cancer Treatment at the Cellular Level

At City of Hope’s Illinois cancer care locations, we use the tools of precision medicine to identify what makes a particular cancer behave the way it does. As precision medicine research continues to rapidly evolve, our oncology team is prepared to tailor a cancer care plan to your genetic makeup using advances in pharmacogenomics, big data analytics, artificial intelligence and biomarker testing. Targeted therapy drugs may be recommended to treat your cancer based on the results of an advanced genomic test. These drugs are designed to seek out features unique to cancer cells and target specific proteins or mutations that may be driving the cancer’s growth and behaviors.

Surpassing Patient Safety Standards

Our hospital, located in Lake County, Illinois, is accredited and certified by a number of renowned professional health care organizations for delivering high-quality care and exceeding patient safety standards.

We Handle the Details

ALLOWING YOU TO FOCUS ON YOU

COH-Coordinated-Care-DTM

Cancer is a complex disease, requiring multiple doctors’ appointments, medications and treatments, as well as support and follow-up care. At City of Hope’s Illinois locations, we’re committed to helping you handle these logistics, so you don’t have to do it alone. A coordinator will be assigned to your care team to ensure that your medical needs are met in a seamless fashion.

Your City of Hope care manager is a nurse with cancer care expertise who serves as the point person on most aspects of your treatment journey. Whether it’s coordinating doctor appointments and treatment visits, filling prescriptions or explaining the process, your care manager helps keep you fully informed.

As liaison between you, your caregivers and your care teams, your care manager is the common thread through the phases of your cancer treatment journey together, so you can focus on you.

Even Small Details Matter on Your Cancer Journey

Finding a cancer hospital and care team that meets your expectations, needs and goals is one of the most important aspects of the cancer journey. At City of Hope’s Illinois locations, we understand how critical the decision-making process is, and the anxiety that often comes with it. That’s why we make it our priority to see that your treatment is as convenient and stress-free as possible. Below are just some of the benefits that come with being a City of Hope Chicago patient.

Telehealth Options

Our telehealth services may be an option, allowing you to connect with our cancer experts from the convenience of your own home.

Coordinated Travel Plans

Before your visit, one of our team members will help schedule your travel, reserve your accommodations, greet you at the airport or train station and bring you to the hospital or to your nearby lodging site.

After you arrive, our staff members are available to continue assisting with your travel coordination and other needs throughout your treatment.

Travel assistance is not permitted for those on government insurance policies, such as Medicare or Medicaid.

On-site Pharmacy

Our hospital oncology pharmacy works with drug manufacturers to deliver your medications securely and promptly to you in the treatment facility or at home. Our pharmacists work with you so you understand your medications and know how to manage the side effects they may cause.

One-Call Insurance Verification

Our Illinois locations accept a variety of insurance plans. Due to insurance plan complexities, the best way to understand your coverage is a phone call. After asking a few questions about your insurance policy information, we can conduct a preliminary check to determine how your benefits may work and, if possible, schedule an appointment — all during the same phone call. If we need to investigate further, we'll get back to you within 24 hours.

Culinary Services

Our culinary services are available seven days a week at our Chicago-area hospital, offering thoughtfully prepared and affordable meals to nourish you during your treatment and help strengthen your immune system.
