Chicago Neuroendocrine Tumor Clinical Program
City of Hope® Cancer Center Chicago’s neuroendocrine tumor program provides leading-edge care for patients with neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) across Illinois, Wisconsin and the surrounding areas. NETs are a rare form of cancer that develop in the neuroendocrine cells and can affect different parts of the body. Our neuroendocrine oncologists work closely with patients and their loved ones to diagnose and treat NETs using innovative, leading-edge technologies and therapies.
Neuroendocrine Cancer Care in Illinois
As a patient at City of Hope Chicago, you will be paired with an expert team of physicians who will collaborate with you and your loved ones to craft a personalized treatment plan individualized to your needs and goals. After diagnosis, NETs are often staged using an imaging technology called NETSPOT. This information is used by your care team to help determine which treatment options may be most appropriate for you. These may include:
- Surgery, including many minimally invasive procedures, to remove tumors
- Immunotherapy, which helps the body’s own immune system recognize and target cancer cells
- Chemotherapy to slow the growth of cancer or kill cancer cells
- Targeted therapy, which uses medications to damage or destroy cancer cells
- Interventional radiology procedures designed to remove or kill tumors
Your care team will discuss your treatment regularly, to ensure any changes in your response to treatment are taken into account. You will also have access to a wide array of supportive care services, including support for both the emotional and physical side effects related to cancer and its treatments.
