Benjamin Heyman, M.D. is an Associate Clinical Professor with a specialized focus in lymphoma and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). His path to oncology was shaped by a deeply personal experience—he was diagnosed with cancer as a child. After successfully completing treatment and entering remission, Dr. Heyman dedicated his life to supporting others facing cancer and advancing research to improve patient outcomes.
Dr. Heyman is passionate about innovative therapies, including BTK degraders, T-cell engagers, and CAR T-cell therapy, which offer new hope for patients with lymphoid malignancies. He has served as a principal investigator in numerous pivotal clinical trials, and his research has been widely published in peer-reviewed journals.
He earned his medical degree from the University of Virginia, followed by residency and fellowship training at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Heyman later joined faculty at UC San Diego, where he took on leadership roles including Medical Director of the Koman Outpatient Pavilion Sanford Stem Cell Clinical Center and Steering Committee Member of the UC Hematologic Malignancy Consortium.
Deeply rooted in Southern California, Dr. Heyman is committed to the health and well-being of his community. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his family, swimming, reading, and gardening.
