Charisma Mylavarapu, D.O., is a dedicated physician specializing in gastrointestinal and genitourinary malignancies at City of Hope® Newport Beach. Her journey into medicine was driven by a lifelong fascination with science and a deep commitment to community service.
Dr. Mylavarapu's passion for oncology was ignited during her internal medicine residency, where she was consistently drawn to oncology cases. She values the resilience of her patients and cherishes the relationships she forms with them. Dr. Mylavarapu attended medical school at Midwestern University, Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine, where she was awarded a research fellowship in a basic science lab studying cystic fibrosis. She completed her residency at Houston Methodist Hospital, where she served as the GME House Staff Council President, and her fellowship at Scripps Clinic.
Dr. Mylavarapu is excited about the role of immunotherapy in MMR-proficient colon cancer and is committed to providing patient-centered care at City of Hope. She has a personal connection to the community she serves, having been born and raised in Orange County.
