Katarina Vasiljevic, M.D., is a dedicated and compassionate physician specializing in treating breast cancer. Her journey into medicine was driven by her nurturing personality and a strong interest in science. Dr. Vasiljevic's passion for internal medicine and oncology was sparked during her medical school years, where she admired the complexity of the human body and the critical physician-patient relationship in oncology. She pursued her medical degree at the University of Maryland School of Medicine after completing her bachelor's in neuroscience at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Vasiljevic then moved to Southern California for her residency in internal medicine and fellowship in hematology/oncology at UC San Diego.
Dr. Vasiljevic is particularly excited about the development and use of antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) in breast cancer treatment, which aim to deliver chemotherapy directly to cancer cells with remarkable precision. Her philosophy in patient care is centered around extensive palliative care training, ensuring that patients feel seen and heard, and aligning medical care with their goals and values. Outside of work, Dr. Vasiljevic enjoys running marathons, hiking, painting nature scenes, reading novels, and spending time at the beach. She was born in Belgrade, Serbia, and moved to America at the age of eight. Dr. Vasiljevic speaks Serbian fluently.
