What Sets Our Chicago Genitourinary Cancer Program Apart?
When you are facing a cancer diagnosis, getting the diagnosis right the first time matters. Additionally, access to leading-edge, personalized treatment is vital – but it’s only part of the story. At our City of Hope Chicago locations, we believe that exceptional care means treating the whole person, not just the disease. Our genitourinary cancer program includes specialists who are experienced in helping you live life well during and after treatment, with expertise in:
- Urologic reconstruction, which can help preserve continence and sexual function after treatment for urinary cancer
- Strategies to maintain sexual function and desire during and after treatment, including pelvic floor therapy
- Bladder sparing treatment, offering a possible alternative to bladder removal surgery
- Hypofractionated radiation approaches, designed to allow for shorter treatment durations
- Techniques to reduce radiation doses to healthy tissues and organs, as well as to reduce side effects
- Providing support for the emotional and psychological challenges some patients face during and after treatment
Our Chicago-area interventional radiology team are also experts in radiopharmaceutical treatments, which precisely detect and treat recurrent prostate cancer.
