When you arrive at our hospital, our experienced travel and accommodations staff will work to help make your stay as stress-free as possible. If you are visiting from out of town, a member of our team will work with you prior to your arrival to help arrange affordable lodging. For qualifying patients and caregivers visiting City of Hope Duarte, we offer accommodations in our own guest rooms, either on-site or close to the hospital.
If available, our on-site accommodations may be offered at reduced rates. These comfortable rooms come with a variety of amenities designed to allow you to get the rest you need. While we would like to accommodate all our patients in our on-site guest rooms, these rooms are typically reserved for patients with special needs and those undergoing specialized treatments, so availability is limited.
We also partner with hotels near our facilities to offer quality accommodations and service at negotiated rates.

Gift Shop and Gift Guidelines
If you are planning to visit a patient undergoing treatment at one of our community practices, please call that location’s main phone number to inquire about its gift guidelines.
The Gift Shop, located on the first floor of Helford Clinical Research Hospital in Duarte, California, offers a variety of products, including snacks, magazines, holiday gifts and decorations, bath and body products, greeting cards and jewelry. For more information, call (626) 900-9633.
While we understand the desire to lift a patient’s spirits with gifts, some items are restricted to protect the health and safety of patients and staff, including:
- Balloons: Latex or rubber balloons are not permitted due to potential allergic reactions. Metallic or mylar balloons are not permitted in the ICU since they may cause interference with electronic medical equipment in the room.
- Flowers: Live flowers are not allowed in patient units due to potential allergic reactions. For most non-ICU rooms, silk or plastic floral arrangements that don't contain decorative moss are acceptable. For ICU rooms, no floral arrangements are allowed due to the severity of the patients’ illnesses.
- Toys: Because of their potential to carry dust and pathogens, used, stuffed or plushy toys are discouraged in the hospital. Visitors are instead encouraged to check with the patient’s care team for games and entertainment that are less likely to cause infections or allergic reactions.

Nourishing Hope offers fresh and healthy meals made to order and food to go. Our high-quality foods include organic and locally grown produce, wild-caught shellfish and salmon, certified Angus beef, hormone-free poultry and all-natural pork products. Our City of Hope Duarte eateries, online and mobile ordering and catering are conveniently available to our patients, guests and staff.

No-Smoking Policy
City of Hope is a smoke-free campus, and smoking is prohibited inside and outside of our buildings.
Please note: The possession of marijuana in any form is prohibited at our hospital grounds in Duarte, California, and all City of Hope satellite locations. Although the state of California has legalized possession of limited amounts of marijuana for recreational use, it remains illegal to possess marijuana under federal law. Since City of Hope is obligated to comply with federal law, your cooperation in helping us remain compliant is appreciated.
