Crystal Marconett Lab
Research Lab Overview
The Marconett Lab studies molecular and cellular origins of lung cancer with specific emphasis on epigenomic and transcriptomic alterations that give rise to lung adenocarcinoma.
Our lab focuses on:
- Understanding the contribution long non-coding RNAs play in the development of lung cancers
- Cellular origins of lung adenocarcinoma and how they influence cancer etiology.
We utilize combined bioinformatic and molecular biology experimentation to understand these processes. We also have characterized a novel role for lncRNAs in mediating the DNA damage response, as well as described the diverse cell types that can give rise to lung adenocarcinoma. Overall, we aim to discover new mechanisms that cause cancer, which can be translated into actionable therapeutic strategies to improve responses to treatment and patient outcomes.
An associate professor of the Department of Integrated Translational Sciences, Beckman Research Institute, the Marconett Lab focuses on the cellular and molecular origins of lung cancer, as well as disruptions to long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) biology in the lung, which facilitates oncogenic transformation.
