Support Groups

Support groups offer a dedicated time and place for patients, family members and caregivers to connect with others who are going through a similar experience. 

Support Groups are Currently Offered Virtually, From the Comfort of Your Home

Bereavement Support Groups
These groups are open to surviving spouses, caregivers, siblings and children who have experienced cancer-related deaths. Preregistration is required for this 12-week series.
 
Breast Cancer Support Group (General)
This group provides a safe, supportive and encouraging environment in which women diagnosed with breast cancer can gain support from each other, through openly sharing their feelings and experiences.
Caregivers Connect Support Group, Virtual for all
Caregiver’s Connect Virtually is a safe place for caregivers to take time to relax, get support and get to know other caregivers. Open to all caregivers, all cancers, inpatient and outpatient and the community.

In-person, Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center
Connect with other caregivers, share their stories, reduce stress and find support. This is an open group for caregivers only. All caregivers of cancer patients are welcome.

Caregivers Support Group (Spanish)
Grupo de apoyo en espanol para: Personas a cargo e cuidao del paciente

Si está ayudando a un familiar o amigo durante el tratamiento del cáncer, usted ha tomado el rol de cuidador(a) del paciente. Asistir a un grupo de apoyo le ayudara usar las herramientas necesarias para sobrellevar la experiencia del cáncer como cuidador(a). Un servicio totalmente gratis para usted como cuidador(a). El asistir a un grupo de apoyo puede ayudarle en, por ejemplo: como cuidarse a si mismo mientras ayuda a su ser querido, como mejor apoyar a su ser querido en su experiencia del cáncer, como expresar y solicitar recursos y apoyo que le ayudaran afrontar problemas prácticos y los efectos del tratamiento.

CLIMB Program 
Children's Lives Include Moments of Bravery (CLIMB) is a free virtual support group for children ages 6-17 years old whose parent or other important adult in their life has been diagnosed with cancer.

Couples: Essential Skills for Overcoming the Challenges of Cancer Together
Gain knowledge about specific techniques to enhance open and honest communication. Learn practical behaviors that will strengthen your relationship. Practice effective problem solving skills together. Each group will be interactive and focus on a different topic. Also available in Spanish.

Living with Metastatic Breast Cancer (Virtual)
Join us for medical updates and a safe space to share with others. Benefit from the wisdom of patient, caregivers and our clinical experts. Feel free to come alone or with your loved one. Registration is greatly appreciated. Walk-Ins are welcome.

Prostate Cancer Support Group (Virtual)
This group is a safe space for men to express their concerns to men, share experiences and relate to others coping with the effects of prostate cancer and its treatment. Spouses/partners are welcome.

The Sweet Connection - Diabetes Empowerment Group
This support group helps empower patients living with diabetes. This group provides opportunities to connect with others, share ideas, thoughts and experiences regarding the lifestyle aspect of managing diabetes. Each session offers a general rotating topic of the month to help facilitate discussion amongst the participants. Periodic speakers will be provided through the year to discuss popular diabetes topics. The "Sweet Connection" - Diabetes Empowerment Group offers the possibility to learn and talk about things with other attendees that are not always discussed during physician appointments.

Tobacco Cessation Support Group (Virtual) - Monday and Tuesdays
Learning, Sharing and Caring
Come and learn strategies to overcome withdrawal symptoms to break habits that link to and trigger tobacco use. Tobacco cessation support groups help you to identify the mental, physical and social aspects of tobacco use. Participants are six times more likely to be tobacco-free one year later then those who quit on their own. Also, statistics have show that up to 60% of tobacco users have quit by the end of the program.

Women's Cancers Support Group (Virtual) 
This group is for people diagnosed with early stage breast or gynecologic cancer. Join us to share with others who are going through the same challenges. Find and give support, and increase feelings of hope. Find community, and reduce feelings of loneliness, anxiety and distress. Learn new ways of coping. This group is intended to provide an opportunity for mutual sharing and support.
