Honoring a Trailblazer

A scientist. A leader. A visionary.

Pioneering the science that led to the development of the first synthetic human insulin and dedicating his life to eliminating catastrophic diseases, including diabetes, Arthur Riggs, Ph.D., the Samuel Rahbar Chair in Diabetes & Drug Discovery, believes its cure is closer than most think. His mission now is simple: to create a world without diabetes.

In honor of our longtime director and research pioneer, we've renamed our world-leading diabetes research center the Arthur Riggs Diabetes & Metabolism Research Institute. Together, we’ll continue our groundbreaking research and revolutionary approach.
