Radiation Oncology Chair’s Message and Welcome

Welcome to City of Hope Duarte’s Diagnostic Radiology Department, where our mission is to provide exceptional imaging services to support the fight against cancer and diabetes.

We feel privileged to be at the forefront of diagnosis, treatment planning and monitoring of cancer patients, and our commitment to excellence, innovation and compassionate care is unwavering.

The Judy and Bernard Briskin Imaging Center provides a wide array of services, including minimally invasive procedures using the most advanced image-guided techniques to treat numerous benign and malignant conditions. We continually strive to improve the quality and efficiency of our services by investing in innovative treatment approaches and specialized staffing, including radiologic technologists who are nationally registered and certified by the state of California.

Acknowledged as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology, City of Hope has radiologists who specialize in breast imaging, offering freezing (cryoablation) of small breast tumors, instead of resection, as part of a national clinical trial program called FROST (freezing instead of removal of small tumors). In a given year, City of Hope conducts more than 400 clinical trials enrolling more than 6,000 patients.

The field of radiology is experiencing exhilarating advances every day. Groundbreaking progress across imaging technologies, artificial intelligence, theranostics and imaging biomarkers is now mainstream. Radiology is making a significant impact, truly driving meaningful change across all aspects of health care.

As the chair of radiology, I am committed to advancing our department's mission of precision imaging, innovation and patient care. Together, we strive for excellence in our field, ensuring that every image reveals not just anatomy but also a path to healing. Thank you for entrusting us with your health.
