Integrated Drug Development Venture (IDDV): City of Hope's Internal Drug Development Arm

The mission of City of Hope’s Integrated Drug Development Venture is to take innovation created by our Principal Investigators and generate high value pharmaceutical assets through preclinical and further clinical development at City of Hope. 

Through this initiative we lay the foundation for novel innovative drugs that can help patients world-wide, and for generating significant and sustainable licensing revenues for City of Hope.

Integrated Drug Development Venture (IDDV)

Focus: Biotech-like preclinical and early clinical development of selected internally-generated projects in a rigorous milestone-driven process; guided by external advisors with VC, Pharma, Biotech and Academic backgrounds, complemented by internal R&D Leaders

  • Aim: Generate more highly-valued assets for
    • Licensing to existing companies
      - Example: City of Hope proprietary COVID vaccine licensed to GeoVax
    • Spinout of biotech companies

Overall Objective: Generate sustainable revenues back to City of Hope based on internally-generated therapeutic, diagnostic and platform assets; enabling valuable assets to reach the market and benefit patients world-wide.

City of Hope's IDDV portfolio currently comprises over a dozen projects

  • Most assets are currently at the Lead Identification or Lead Optimization phase
  • Strong focus on solid and hematological cancers as well as diabetes, anti-infectives
  • Modalities include:
    • 5 small molecules
    • 4 antibodies/bispecifics
    • 4 cell therapies
    • 2 vaccines
    • 1 nucleic acid product
  • Multiple additional assets have already been out-licensed at pre-clinical and clinical stages of development, and we are interested in finding additional licensees
