CHICAGO — City of Hope® Cancer Center Chicago, part of one of the largest and most advanced cancer research and treatment organizations in the United States and Chicago’s only cancer-focused hospital, is proud to announce the addition of two new physicians to its medical staff, further expanding specialized expertise across cancer detection, diagnosis and treatment.
Alexander Krule, M.D., M.S., a medical oncologist specializing in breast cancer, and Ahmed Abdalla, M.B.B.Ch., F.R.C.R., a radiologist specializing in breast and body imaging, bring complementary expertise across the cancer care continuum. They join an accomplished multidisciplinary team that provides personalized care spanning advanced imaging and early detection through individualized cancer treatment.
“Cancer care is increasingly complex, and delivering the best possible outcomes requires specialists across disciplines working together for each individual patient,” said Pete Govorchin, president of City of Hope Cancer Center Chicago. “The additions of Dr. Krule and Dr. Abdalla bring complementary expertise that expands our ability to provide patients with comprehensive care, from identifying and understanding disease to developing the treatment approach that is right for them.”
These additions are the latest demonstration of City of Hope’s ongoing investment in providing comprehensive cancer care for patients across the Chicago region.
City of Hope Chicago continues to build on the expertise available to patients at multiple points in their cancer care journey—from screening, risk assessment and advanced imaging to diagnosis and individualized treatment.
Dr. Krule is a board-certified medical oncologist specializing in solid tumors, with a particular focus on breast cancer and patients at increased risk due to family or genetic history.
He earned his medical degree from the American Medical Program at Tel Aviv University and a Master of Science from Northwestern University. He completed his internal medicine residency and hematology/oncology fellowship at the University of Illinois College of Medicine and Jesse Brown VA Medical Center.
He sees patients at City of Hope locations in Zion and Morton Grove.
Dr. Abdalla is a radiologist specializing in breast and body imaging.
He earned his medical degree from Alexandria University College of Medicine in Egypt and completed fellowship training in neuroradiology at UMass Chan Medical School, abdominal radiology at the University of Kentucky and breast imaging at Saint Louis University. He sees patients at City of Hope Cancer Center Chicago in Zion.
