Qiong (Annabel) Wang Scientific Biography

Qiong (Annabel) Wang, Ph.D., is assistant professor in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Endocrinology within the Diabetes & Metabolic Research Institute at City of Hope. She led the creation of a biological model for tracing the development of fat cells, which she uses in her research. Among other awards, she has received the American Diabetes Association’s Mentor-Based Postdoctoral Fellowship and Young Investigator Travel Grant.
 
Before joining City of Hope in 2017, Dr. Wang served as a postdoctoral fellow and instructor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center’s Touchstone Diabetes Center, under the mentorship of Philipp Scherer, Ph.D. She earned her doctorate from the Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences in the Chinese Academy of Sciences — where she worked with Yong Liu, Ph.D. — and her bachelor’s degree from Xinjiang University in China.
