Why get a second opinion?
If you have been diagnosed with cancer, you may be considering a second opinion. At City of Hope, our extensive expertise comes from treating cancer every day, including advanced and complex cancers, and we believe that if you understand your options, you can join your care team in making the most informed decisions about your care.
- A second opinion can help to ensure your diagnosis is correct and may introduce you to additional treatment options, including treatments that are more advanced or more tailored to your individual needs, which may result in improved outcomes.
- Becoming more informed about your cancer and the treatment options available to you can help you feel more confident that you are choosing the right treatment plan, as well as the team and/or hospital that meets your needs.
- If one doctor told you your cancer is untreatable, another doctor may explore additional treatment options with you.
