City of Hope Orange County, the most advanced cancer research and treatment organization in Orange County, has released a report that evaluates the cancer incidence rate in people ages 18 and 49 in Orange County and Southern California amid a national epidemic of early-onset cancer diagnoses.

The FDA approved daraxonrasib, a new drug for Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Patient Barbara Andes, initially on chemotherapy, began taking daraxonrasib which significantly reduced her cancer markers. City of Hope's Pashtoon Kasi, M.D., in Irvine, noted that while not a cure, daraxonrasib is the first treatment to substantially extend lives and improve quality of life for patients. Kasi highlighted its tangible impact on symptoms, pain and overall well-being. Andes expressed improved quality of life with the new treatment.

The FDA approved Rasonque (daraxonrasib) for advanced pancreatic cancer, a daily pill targeting RAS mutations that doubled survival time in a phase 3 trial. City of Hope's Pashtoon Kasi, M.D., noted that RAS was once considered 'undruggable.' He added that this new therapy significantly reshapes patient outlook due to its direct targeting of a major biological driver, offering a promising second-line option for patients with metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma.
