When Lung Cancer Spreads to the Liver: What to Expect

Liver metastases from lung cancer can be challenging to detect early due to non-specific or absent symptoms. City of Hope's Lee Hong, M.D., Ph.D., notes that nausea, unexplained weight loss and discomfort in the upper right abdomen are potential signs. Jaundice may also manifest. Hong advises patients to report any new or worsening changes to their care team promptly, as these symptoms can have various underlying causes.

TKI Maintenance After Brexu-cel: Key Questions in Ph+ ALL

September 4, 2026

City of Hope's Tamer Othman, M.D., discussed findings from a real-world analysis on tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) maintenance after brexucabtagene autoleucel (brexu-cel) in adults with Philadelphia chromosome–positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia. The study supports TKI maintenance improving relapse rates and progression-free survival, though many questions remain regarding TKI choice, dosing, timing and duration. Othman emphasized the need for prospective validation of these strong signals and integrating dynamic measurable residual disease monitoring.
