City of Hope Orange County, the most advanced cancer research and treatment organization in Orange County, has released a report that evaluates the cancer incidence rate in people ages 18 and 49 in Orange County and Southern California amid a national epidemic of early-onset cancer diagnoses.

City of Hope Orange County honored more than two dozen breast cancer survivors with pink bomber jackets from their doctors during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. City of Hope's Annette Walker, M.H.A., likened the jackets to an earned badge of strength. Among them was Ashley Grafton, a City of Hope employee who found a lump in 2017 at age 32 and pushed for screening despite insurance concerns. Treated at the hospital with chemotherapy and a double mastectomy, she urged women to advocate for themselves.

Experts discussed emerging strategies for advanced squamous non–small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) after immunotherapy, focusing on next-generation CTLA-4 directed antibodies and new clinical trial data. City of Hope's Edward Kim, M.D., M.B.A., noted that squamous NSCLC drug development has been slower than adenocarcinoma, advocating for comprehensive testing, including RNA sequencing. Kim stressed a holistic approach is crucial for understanding diverse lung cancer biology.
