Radiology (X-ray) and Fluoroscopy

X-rays, or radiographs, are a quick and painless way for doctors to look for cancer inside different parts of the body.

Fluoroscopy is an X-ray procedure that allows providers to see internal organs in motion to diagnose or treat patients. At City of Hope, fluoroscopy is used to perform lumbar punctures of the spine to ensure the chemotherapy is being infused correctly.

X-ray and fluoroscopy tests expose the body to ionizing radiation, but modern equipment uses much smaller amounts of radiation than in the past.
