Interventional Gastroenterology
Dr. Mahdavian helps diagnose and treat patients with pancreatic, stomach, bile duct, colon, rectal and esophageal cancers. He is an expert in endoscopic approaches.
Dr. Vashi uses minimally invasive techniques to diagnose and treat gastrointestinal tumors and help reduce cancer-related symptoms.
Colorectal Surgery
Dr. David B. Stewart, Sr. is chief of surgery and a colorectal surgeon at City of Hope Chicago in Zion, IL, specializing in rectal and colon cancer surgery.
Surgical Oncology
Dr. Halabi is highly skilled in minimally invasive, advanced techniques and technologies for gynecologic and gastrointestinal cancers, including cytoreductive surgery combined with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy.
Dr. Li treats a wide range of conditions, specializing in complex gastrointestinal cancers, soft tissue disease and hepato-pancreato-biliary conditions and using advanced and minimally invasive techniques.
Medical Oncology
Dr. Kaplan has more than three decades of experience providing care for all types of cancer-related disorders, including those of the breast, kidney, bladder and others, and has a special interest in gastrointestinal malignancies.
As president of the medical staff at City of Hope Chicago, Dr. Khan provides leadership to our Illinois medical staff, guides protocols, ensures standard-of-care guidelines are consistently met and exceeded, and helps recruit high-quality physicians.
Dr. Kleinman has over 25 years of experience in treating both solid tumors and blood cancers. Additionally, he treats noncancerous blood conditions, such as iron deficiency.
Dr. Pisick treats a wide range of cancer types, including lung and prostate cancers. He has conducted extensive research on lung cancer and malignant mesothelioma.
Radiation Oncology
Dr. Gan uses innovative radiation therapy techniques and technology to treat a variety of cancers, including breast, prostate and lung cancers.
Dr. King is an expert in advanced radiation therapy, and is skilled at treating multiple cancer types and stages, including breast, prostate and lung cancers.
Dr. Shah is Chief of Radiation Oncology. He specializes in radiation therapy for a variety of cancers, and is skilled in hypofractionated approaches.
Dr. Smorowski provides radiation therapy for cancer patients. A breast cancer survivor herself, she has served as principal investigator for several radiation oncology clinical trials.

Dr. Choh is an expert in diagnostic and therapeutic radiology for a wide range of cancers, including breast cancer and gastrointestinal cancers.
Dr. Yoo utilizes interventional radiology techniques to diagnose and treat patients with a variety of cancer types. He is also skilled at radiopharmaceutical treatments.

Pathology
Dr. Elham Abboud is a Pathologist at City of Hope Chicago. She works closely with our medical oncologists to personalize cancer treatment. The information she provides helps each patient’s oncologist recommend the most appropriate and individualized cancer treatments.
Dr. Khatoon is a board certified anatomic and clinical pathologist. Within her work, she analyzes test results to deliver accurate pathology reports to the oncology teams.
Dr. Zhou is an expert in molecular and genetic techniques to classify cancer types and stages, and his research has been printed in multiple publications and conferences.
