Women’s Imaging at Our Los Angeles-Area Locations
City of Hope's® Breast Imaging Center is dedicated to providing the highest standard of care in breast cancer detection and diagnosis. Breast cancer is a heterogeneous family of diseases in which the breast tissue undergoes uncontrolled growth and division. Although women are at a significantly higher risk of developing breast cancer, everyone, including cisgender male patients, is at risk.
Why Is Women’s Imaging Performed?
According to the National Cancer Institute, up to 310,000 new breast cancer patients will be diagnosed in 2024 in the United States.
When breast cancer is found at early stages, the treatment outcome is usually excellent. Unfortunately, most early-stage breast cancers do not generate any symptoms, such as a lump or pain, and can only be found using a screening method such as annual mammograms.
Our state-of-the-art facility has the latest mammography, ultrasound and breast MRI technologies, ensuring precise and comprehensive imaging services.
What Sets Our Women’s Imaging Program Apart?
Whether you're coming in for routine screening or diagnostic evaluation, our advanced imaging techniques offer the most accurate detection of breast abnormalities. With a focus on early detection, we aim to provide every patient with peace of mind and the best possible care.
At the heart of our center is a team of fellowship-trained radiologists specializing in breast imaging. Their expertise, combined with cutting-edge equipment, allows for not only accurate diagnosis but also detailed staging of breast cancer. This ensures that if cancer is detected, it is carefully evaluated, enabling us to create a tailored treatment plan. From screening to diagnosis and staging, our center is committed to guiding you with compassion, precision and expertise.
Our Women’s Imaging Section is proud to offer dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) bone density studies, a highly accurate and non-invasive test to assess bone health. DEXA is the gold standard for diagnosing osteoporosis and evaluating fracture risk. Our skilled radiologists use advanced imaging technology to measure bone mineral density to detect early signs of bone loss, allowing for timely intervention and personalized treatment plans. Whether you're undergoing screening for osteoporosis or monitoring bone health over time, our dedicated team is here to provide reliable and precise results in a comfortable setting.
