What Is the Code Acute Leukemia Program?

Code Acute Leukemia was created to expedite transfer of patients to City of Hope within 18 hours of notification by referring physicians or staff. The program began in 2018 and has successfully transferred more than 750 patients from more than 100 hospitals nationwide since its inception.

Our process includes all appropriate referring and receiving departments or care team members to ensure effective handoffs and efficient transfers so that all patients receive timely care and treatment. City of Hope’s Code Acute Leukemia program also includes immediate peer-to-peer calls to offer clinical advice on how best to stabilize patients for transfer.
