One in two Californians will be diagnosed with cancer in his or her lifetime. And the outcome of their diagnosis often depends on whether the disease was caught early. That’s why City of Hope is bringing cancer and disease prevention services directly to you with our mobile screening and prevention clinic.

The City of Hope mobile clinic offers qualifying clients state-of-the-art screening services for multiple cancer types, specific genetic disorders, sexually transmitted infections that may increase cancer risk and other conditions. Mobile clinic clients also have access to City of Hope’s world-renowned clinical trials and research programs, lauded for pioneering technologies that have led to breakthrough treatments used around the world.

Mobile Screening Program Services

City of Hope’s mobile screening program offers a variety of lab tests to assess your overall health. Qualifying clients include those who meet age and risk guidelines established by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) and other agencies. The program also offers:

  • Lab tests intended to detect specific viruses or substances that may raise the risk of cancer
  • Genetic tests designed to detect hereditary cancer syndromes or genetic abnormalities linked to cancer and other diseases
  • Cancer-prevention vaccines for qualifying clients

Our mobile screening program assesses your risk for a wide range of cancer types, including:

We Make It Easy to Access Your Mobile Clinic Test and Screening Results

You can view your results on the MyCityofHope patient portal, or you can choose to receive them by phone or email.

Through MyCityofHope, you also can: 

  • Access medical records
  • Review your medical history
  • Check your current medications
  • Communicate with your team
  • Pay bills
  • Schedule future appointments
  • Visit a City of Hope doctor virtually

City of Hope will work with each patient to understand his or her insurance coverage and, when appropriate, will submit claims to insurance. Patients may also apply for one-time financial assistance through our institutional policy.

The availability of your test results depends on a variety of factors, including the type of test or screening procedure you had.

You may choose to receive results via the convenient MyCityofHope portal, or you may receive their test and screening results by phone or email. If you receive a positive finding on your screening tests, a nurse navigator will guide you through the possible next steps of the diagnostic process and provide appropriate resources. However, you are not obligated to receive any additional care at City of Hope. Please talk to our mobile clinic staff about the best options for you.

Manisha Ati, FNP-C, MSN, APRN
Family Nurse Practitioner
Manisha is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and is excited to be a part of City of Hope’s Mobile Cancer Prevention & Screening Program. Before joining City of Hope, Manisha worked as a primary care provider at a community clinic in Los Angeles and is passionate about serving the community and keeping people healthy. Manisha believes that healthcare is a human right and that everyone deserves equal access to high quality medical care. She is bilingual in English and Spanish. Manisha has over a decade of clinical nursing experience and completed her B.S. in Kinesiology at San Diego State University (go Aztecs!), B.S. in Nursing at New York University and M.S. in Nursing at University of California, Irvine (zot zot zot). An avid traveler, Manisha loves tasting her way through other cultures. At home, she loves hiking with her dachshund, reading a good book and cooking with her husband.

Mammography Technologist
Carrie joined City of Hope as an X-ray technologist in 2011 and since that time, she went on to get her mammography license and has been working the last few years doing both x-ray & mammography exams. Carrie feels that as women, we tend to put our healthcare needs last and hopes to reach more women where travel and time are obstacles. By providing screening mammograms on the mobile clinic, we will increase access for women to have their cancer screening needs met in their local community. As a 3rd generation healthcare worker and a native of Southern California, she loves going to Disneyland with her family and being a yorkie mom. She feels incredibly lucky to be working with such an awesome team and looks forward to meeting you!

Tonnika Chaney is an experienced administrative professional in the Medical and Customer Service fields with over a decade of experience. Tonnika attended Northwest College and Premier Career College to further her medical education. She has worked in various settings such hospitals, pharmacies and her local fire department. Tonnika joined City of Hope in July 2018, where she is honored to give back in the city she grew up in. Tonnika previously worked with blood donors in the Amini Transfusion Center. Tonnika has had multiple close family members diagnosed with cancer, which is why she is passionate about this work; healthcare is not only her love but also drives a special spark within her. Tonnika feels that the Mobile Screening and Preventive Clinic is a miracle on wheels and is honored to be a part of the team. On a personal level Tonnika is a social butterfly and is often called “the life of the party.” She brings a bubbly spirit through her excellent customer service and brings joy and laughter to her friends and family. Tonnika enjoys spending her free time with her kindhearted four-year-old daughter Zoey.
Jessica Thies Nurse Manager, Mobile Program

Nurse Manager
Jessica is the manager of City of Hope’s mobile cancer prevention and screening program. She has been helping to build the program from the ground up, from developing the clinical processes to creating new community partnerships to leading a diverse team with both clinical and operational personnel. On top of all this, she’s becoming an expert in truck maintenance!With more than 10 years of experience as an ICU nurse, Jessica’s passion is bridging the gap between clinicians and administrators to better improve patient satisfaction and outcomes. Before her current position, Jessica was an Administrative Fellow at City of Hope and implemented a new medication waste system throughout the entire medical center. She received her Master’s in Public Health from the University of California, Los Angeles, and her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from the University of Rochester. She became interested in nursing when she lost her father to lung cancer at the age of five. Jessica is from Rochester, New York and enjoys running, playing soccer, good pizza and baking anything with lemon.
Joseph Tran RN, Mobile Program
Joseph Tran, RN, PHN, BSN
Registered Nurse
Joseph Tran is the Registered Nurse who plays a pivotal role in the community by providing education on cancer prevention and screening services available, consenting individuals to research studies, drawing labs for genetic testing, administering vaccines, and promoting a healthy lifestyle. Joseph began his nursing journey at Intercommunity Hospital where he honed his skills on a Cardiac Unit for two years delivering exceptional care to a diverse patient population. Joseph demonstrated a desire to contribute to public health and transitioned to Los Angeles County Department of Public Health as a COVID Case Manager for schools and healthcare facilities for 2.5 years prior to joining City of Hope. At home, Joseph loves hanging out with his two dogs (Corgi and German Shepherd), going on long-walks with his wife and dogs, and watching sports (Lakers Nation!). He also enjoys exploring different food cuisines all around the world.

Mobile Clinic Driver
Alfonso is currently the driver for the Mobile Cancer Prevention and Screening Program. He joined City of Hope as a shuttle driver in 2020 and enjoyed providing transportation to patients to ease their medical needs. As the Mobile Clinic Driver, he gives our team the opportunity to reach out to communities and bring cancer screenings to them. Alfonso has over two decades of experience as a licensed Commercial Driver where he started in public transportation and quickly moved to medical transportation, including the delivery of medicines and machines. Working in the medical community has given Alfonso a unique outlook to the many transportation barriers patients and families often experience. In his spare time, Alfonso ventures out to amusement parks and museums with his family. He and his wife love to go to the beach and watch their son and daughter play in the ocean. During basketball season, Alfonso helps coach his son's basketball team. His younger daughter keeps everyone busy with frequent bike rides at the Santa Fe dam.
