Message From Our Chief Nursing Officer
Welcome to the Southern California City of Hope® Regional Nursing homepage. It is both an honor and a privilege to lead such an extraordinary group of nursing professionals who embody City of Hope’s mission, vision, values and behaviors. City of Hope’s mission is to transform the future of health and make hope a reality for all touched by cancer and diabetes. Our core values — trailblazing, compassion, inclusion and integrity — are driving the forces that empower City of Hope nurses to achieve this mission. We stand on the foundations of a legacy of community outreach, care for the vulnerable, innovation and scientific inquiry as well as leadership of international nursing practice and care delivery initiatives.
At City of Hope, our nurses are central to care delivery across the continuum, providing hope and healing to patients and families during some of the most challenging moments of their lives. Our nurses are dedicated to delivering world-class, research-driven care while maintaining a deep commitment to the empathy and human connection that truly sets City of Hope nursing apart. Whether at the bedside, in research or leading an initiative that advances our mission, City of Hope nurses play a vital role in transforming lives. At City of Hope, scientists, researchers, physicians and nurses partner daily to share ideas and discuss real-world results. Nurses here collaborate closely with renowned clinicians, including surgeons and specialists who advance cancer, HIV and diabetes treatments throughout the world.
City of Hope Nursing in Southern California, comprised of clinical care sites across five counties, and 35+ locations has achieved Magnet Recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. (ANCC). Awarded only after successful achievement in a written self-study and rigorous site visit, Magnet recognition is one of the highest honors in nursing and a global recognition of the cancer center’s outstanding commitment to excellence in health care delivery and improvement of patient outcomes. Additionally, City of Hope is the only organization in the country to have achieved ANCC Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP) for its three separate programs serving nurse residency, nurse fellowship and APP residency. City of Hope is also included in the prestigious group of 10 Associated Dedicated Cancer Centers (ADCC) as well as being a founding member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), with National Cancer Institute Designation (NCI). This could not be achieved without a dedicated, accountable, highly expert nursing staff.
Our shared commitment to lifelong learning, professional development and evidence-based practice ensures that we remain at the forefront of nursing and patient-centered care. With advanced nursing leadership development, commitment to transition to practice support, a robust professional governance structure and a focus on clinical innovation in surgical, inpatient and outpatient settings, nurses have the support to develop the practice they envision.
I am proud to stand alongside our nurses as we advance the mission and deliver healing, science and hope to those who need it most.
