Los Angeles-Area Pediatric Critical Care Experts
City of Hope® has dedicated, board-certified pediatricians who are highly experienced in managing patients with hematologic and oncologic diagnoses, including those who have undergone pediatric stem cell transplantation.
Our pediatric critical care team members work on weekends and weekdays after hours. They care for pediatric patients admitted to the hospital, take calls from patients and their family members, evaluate and manage acutely ill children who come to our outpatient clinic after hours or to the Evaluation and Treatment Center and admit patients to the hospital as necessary.
Their focus is on optimizing care for our pediatric patients. They assist in:
- Managing complex medical issues
- Providing continuity and facilitating transitions of care
- Co-managing hospitalized patients with attending pediatric oncologists/hematologists and pediatric intensivists
- Consulting with subspecialty physicians
We know that when medical issues related to a patient’s diagnosis or treatment come up in the middle of the night, this can be stressful and disruptive. As well as providing comprehensive medical care to ensure a seamless transition from daytime to evening hours, our critical care team members also recognize the importance of addressing the psychosocial, cognitive and emotional needs of our patients and their family members.
