Pediatric Psychology

Coping with cancer diagnosis is difficult, especially for a child or adolescent. City of Hope’s pediatric psychologists are available to help patients deal with the emotional, psychological, cognitive and behavioral challenges that can arise during cancer diagnosis and treatment.

During active treatment, City of Hope psychologists can provide interventions tailored to individual patient and family needs. By helping young patients cope, we're improving their ability to actively participate in their care.

City of Hope psychologists provide a range of care, including:

  • Adjustment to illness
  • Psychological stability for treatment
  • Behavior challenges impacting compliance with treatment, medication or procedures
  • Stress and coping
  • Body image
  • Adolescence concerns

If you or a loved one could benefit from meeting with a pediatric psychologist during treatment, talk to your physician for a referral.
