Division of Cardiology

The Division of Cardiology at City of Hope is a subspecialty with expertise in both general cardiology and cardio-oncology. Although remarkable advances in cancer care have improved survival outcomes, patients can develop unique cardiovascular complications after undergoing treatment, including various chemotherapies, novel immunotherapies and radiation therapy, as well as stem cell transplantation. Our division specializes in assessing the strength of the patient's heart and guiding cardiovascular protection in conjunction with our team of hematologists and oncologists in order to safely deliver needed therapies, minimize risk of cardiac complications and aggressively manage heart conditions when difficulties arise.

We collaborate with our surgeons and anesthesiologists to offer preoperative risk assessments and clinical optimization before major surgery. We also network with interventional cardiologists, cardiac electrophysiologists and cardiac surgeons at Cedars-Sinai, Keck Medicine of USC, University of California, Los Angeles, Huntington Memorial Hospital and Methodist Hospital in Arcadia, California.

Our division provides expertise in clinical cardio-oncology and cardiac imaging, including a full array of noninvasive cardiovascular imaging services to assist with the surveillance of cardiac function and diagnosis of heart disease. Based upon our areas of clinical expertise and our basic, translational and clinical research programs, the International Cardio-Oncology Society has recognized City of Hope as a Center of Excellence in the field of Cardio-Oncology.
