Los Angeles-Area Musculoskeletal Imaging

The musculoskeletal imaging team at City of Hope® offers patients in and around Los Angeles access to advanced screening techniques for a wide range of cancers and disorders of the soft tissues and bones. Our specialist radiologists are board-certified experts with years of experience both performing and interpreting scans that can help detect cancer.

Why Is Musculoskeletal Imaging Performed?

Musculoskeletal imaging refers to a variety of imaging techniques that can be used to detect and diagnose cancer, stage the disease and monitor how well cancer is responding to treatment. These types of scans include conventional radiography, computed tomography (CT), whole-body magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET). Our fellowship-trained team is experienced at screening for and staging:

  • Cancers that originate in the bones
  • Soft tissue sarcomas, which are cancers originating in soft body tissues like the muscles, tendons, nerves or blood vessels
  • Multiple myeloma, a type of cancer of the blood
  • Metastatic disease, or cancer that has spread from its primary location in the body

What Sets Our Musculoskeletal Imaging Program Apart?

The musculoskeletal imaging specialists at City of Hope work closely with other doctors and clinical staff as part of a multidisciplinary cancer care team, ensuring that every patient receives personalized care and treatment.
