Los Angeles-Area Cardiovascular and Thoracic Imaging
City of Hope®'s Division of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Radiology consists of a highly dedicated and skilled team of radiologists and technologists committed to excellence in diagnosing and managing our cancer patients. Our imaging radiologists are fellowship-trained in thoracic imaging and actively involved in various professional societies. Many are nationally and internationally recognized for their contribution to the field.
Our work is complemented by our state-of-the-art equipment, which includes several high-resolution Siemens and GE multidetector computed tomography (CT) scanners, including multiple dual-source CT scanners and multiple 3T and 1.5T Siemens magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners. We also have a fully integrated picture archiving and communication system (PACS), electronic health record (EHR), reporting system and a separate dedicated 3D lab to augment diagnostic reporting with efficiency and precision.
Why Is Cardiovascular and Thoracic Imaging Performed?
Cardiovascular and thoracic imaging techniques allow our physicians to examine abnormalities in the heart or upper body and can be used to diagnose or stage several different types of cancer that affect the lungs, throat or other parts of the thorax. Imaging can also be used to track how well you are responding to cancer treatment.
Our division interprets cardiothoracic tumors, the bulk of which are lung tumors, cardiovascular CT angiography (CTA), cardiac MRA and MRI, chest radiographs, and chest CT scans across the full spectrum of thoracic and cardiovascular diseases. We take a proactive approach to patient care with our dedicated lung cancer screening program, ensuring early detection and management of lung cancers, and compassionate care for our patients.
What Sets Our Los Angeles-Area Cardiothoracic Imaging Program Apart?
Our work extends beyond our division, as we collaborate with clinical and research departments, including oncology, pulmonary medicine, cardiology, thoracic surgery and radiation oncology. Through regular tumor boards and discussions, we ensure that every voice is heard, fostering a sense of inclusion in the patient care process and contributing to the development of new leading-edge innovations for tumor therapy.
